2025 Season begins the end of October 27th at High School. 

TEAM RULES & GUIDELINES (this is general for both teams.  Mr. Sherman will have his own guidelines)

TRANSPORTATION to High School Practices

All  players will take their regular bus to the high school at dismissal.  Families will pick up their players in the parking lot at 5 pm.   Not the bus circle as there may be busses there.    If your player is a walker, please email rsmart@jecsd.org to make arrangements.

Once we move our practices to the Middle School, families will pick up their athletes at the Middle School parking lot.  (not in the circle).  You could actually pick them up behind the bus garage - less crowded.

All athletes are required to attend a minimum of 7 of the 8 scheduled practices before being eligible to play.

Teams will be separated as follows:  8th grade and slightly advanced 7th grade will be coached by Coach Smart.   All remaining players will be considered the 7th grade team and be coached by Jim Sherman.    We have more 7th grade than 8th.  

UNIFORM INFO

One Jersey is provided to players / players provide own shorts.  Two if you happen to be a libero.

Shorts - Color - preferably navy (black is acceptable)  All solid in color please.  You do not have to wear spandex

Knee Pads - all players should provide their own knee pads.  Do not rush out to purchase - make sure your athlete likes the sport first.

No jewelry for practice or games (not a league rule, but is a coaches rule) - Let's prevent a ripped out ear lobe. 

Permanent jewelry like bracelet is not allowed.

TRANSPORTATION to Matches

All players must ride the bus to matches.  Any exceptions will need to be approved by the coach and athletic director 24 hours in advance.

You may ride home with person(s) on your transportation form, but you must be signed out.

No Food Consumed on bus. We follow the same rules that are followed during the regular bus runs.  You should eat a small snack during sports study hall -- not on the bus.

Only water bottles allowed on bus and bench (no sugary sticky drinks -- painful when they spill -- and they will spill)

MATCHES - where do teams sit?

At home and away matches, the 8th grade team will sit together in a designated area. No food or snacks at the bench area

PLAYING TIME - We do not discuss playing time.  It is at the coaches' discretion and based on the player's skill, coachability, attendance and on the level of the opposing team.    If you miss any part of a practice, your playing time will be affected.
